The early bird forecast for the weekend is not bad with late starts but an even later finish around 6 pm on Saturday and after 6 pm on Sunday. We are not planning to come out but if you feel like flying a few kms it may be worthwhile. I will try to comment a little later in the week.

Saturday had a solid overcast until after 3 pm and no flying at all.
On Sunday strong wind had developed by 2 pm and after 5 or so launches Tuggy Phyl called it off due to a 20 kt quartering crosswind, gusting higher. I got lucky and had the last launch. Aloft my gadget measured wind from the north west up to 30 kts. I trried to get to Boort against that wind but oborted my attempts twice. After 3 hours in the air the quartering wind had not abated and made for an interesting landing on 36.
Well, well, well - I'm sitting in the clubhouse now and skysight is still forecastin 6,000 ft for the afternoon. lookoutthewindow.com is showing 8 / 8 high cloud, which doesn't bode to well for the remainder of the day. We live and hope.
The forecast is still good for Saturday. Blue with thermals of 4 kts to 6,500 ft with wind for the boundary layer around 15 kts from the NW. A first launch around 12:30 will yield thermals to 4,000 ft inproving to 6,000 ft by 2 pm.
Sunday is a very different proposition. A launch around 12:30 will get you to 5,000 ft, improving to 10,000 ft by 2:30 pm. Thermal strength 5 to 6 kts. The bunch of hair in the soup is the northerly wind, 15 kts on the ground, which is manageable but for the boundary layer 35 kts around midday, increasing to 45 kts later in the afternoon.
We may come afterall to enjoy Saturday and hope for a change in wind strength on Sunday.
Make of it what you want.
